Jetstar has apologised to a passenger after the words "I am gay" were written on his luggage with airline baggage sticker tags.
A spokeswoman for the low cost airline said a thorough investigation would be conducted after a picture of the luggage was posted on Twitter yesterday after a flight from Perth to Brisbane.
It is believed the incident took place in Perth but the airline was unable to confirm this.
"We are taking this matter very seriously and we have contacted the passenger to apologise for any distress caused," the spokeswoman said in a statement to Australian newspaper, the Herald Sun.
User @aaronpp posted the picture yesterday attached with caption: "Utterly disgusted to find my luggage front and center on the @JetstarAirways luggage carousel looking like this."
Identifying himself as a stay-at-home dad and blogger, the man claimed he believed the incident happened at Perth Airport, during a visit.
"I know nobody there. It was after midnight and the flight delayed over an hour... idle hands, perhaps," he tweeted on Sunday.
