At a meeting in Melbourne last week, the board of the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) commended Tourism Australia on the launch at the AIME trade show of the new brand Business Events Australia.
The AACB, represents fourteen Convention & Visitors Bureaux around Australia and, in conjunction with other key industry associations which comprise the Business Events Council of Australia, have been seeking the delivery of a uniform national Business Events brand.
AACB's President, Sandra Chipchase said "it is wonderful to see such positive action from TA on a major strategic priority for the industry - the development of a distinctive yet integrated brand to position Australia globally as a business events destination."
Ms Chipchase also congratulated Tourism Australia for its robust consultation with AACB members on the brand development.
Ms Chipchase concluded, "The Convention Bureaux of Australia look forward to continuing our work with Tourism Australia's new Business Events team in promoting Australia as an outstanding destination for Business Events".
Business Events (conventions, meetings, exhibitions and incentive travel reward programs) are worth $17.5B to Australia's economy, generate 214,000 jobs and represent the highest yielding sector of Australia's tourism industry.
