Heathrow protesters scale Houses of Parliament

Protesters against the proposed third runway at London Heathrow climbed on to the roof of the Houses of Parliament yesterday.

The small group of around five people, who reportedly used visitor passes to get into the building and then climbed a fire escape, waved banners and threw paper planes.

The protesters said they would stay on the roof until at least midday.

At 12.20, three hours after their protest began, they were led away by police.

A similar protest was staged at Heathrow earlier this week.
