Manchester gains Azores flights

Manchester is to gain an air link with the Azores this summer.

SATA International will start flights from May 3 as an extension of a service from Ponta Delgada to Gatwick on Saturdays.

The airline currently runs twice weekly Airbus A320 flights between Gatwick and Ponta Delgada in the Azores on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The new service will be created by extending the existing Saturday service which will now serve both Manchester and Gatwick.

Richard Burgess, of SATA International in the UK, said: ââ¬ÅâœWe are delighted to be bringing the Azores closer to the 28 million people in the Manchester airport catchment area.

ââ¬ÅâœThe Azores is enjoying increasing support from the UK travel trade, with new market sectors starting to develop in the region, particularly golf.ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢
