Why Australian families still shun Bali

SYDNEY - An online poll conducted by the Australian family travel magazine Out & About With Kids reveals 59 percent of readers think Bali is still unsafe, almost six years after the bombings which devastated the popular tourist haunt.

When asked about the safest holiday destination for Australian families, respondents chose Fiji (26%), Vanuatu (20%) then the UK (15%). The United States came in at just 12 percent.

In the autumn issue of Out and About with Kids, a 14-time Bali holiday veteran tells why she chooses to take her children there every year.

She uncovers her favourite spots for families far from the hustle of bustle of Kuta.

In other Bali news, reports from Denpasar indicate that the three Bali bombers facing the death penalty have decided to continue their fight against the firing squad - just days after their lawyer formally withdrew their appeals.
