  • And the winner is ......

Well obviously not Arsenal or the Manager. I think enough of the blood letting from Gooners and enough mickey taking from the rest. My theory is that Arsene does not like confrontation so when there is any dissent from a senior player they are on the way out. It is also why they will never have a bench such as the other members of the gang of four. Anyway the winner of the tickets is Paul Fisher for his revolutionary comments.

  • We're on our way....

Arsene would put it down to losing Eduardo as the turning point. Even at the beginning of the season he believed his team, because of its youth and inexperience wouldn't peak for a few years. But if you were going to through a season away, at least lose to Liverpool in the EPL to give them a chance of catching Man U! After all, some other fans don't like Arsenal, but EVERY other teams fans want to see Manchester lose. Who said money can't buy you Premierships!!

  • what went wrong

Not paying 20m for Torres is maybe a start to it... It seems with Arsene that if it is for his team he can see it, but if it goes against them, well he seems to lose his sight badly... Maybe Specsavers should offer free consultations to Arsenal... Bedner must need it after his miss against Liverpool... Arsenal may play the best football, but that doesn't make you winners... Just ask the Brazil side of '82... As a Liverpool fan my heart bleeds for you... I remember Liverpool playing great football in the 90's and always falling short, be afraid Arsenal be very afriad

  • The problem with Arsene ......

The problem with a French Revolution is that they all lose their heads !!!

  • Despite the bravado below

All those smug comments below from non Arsenal worshippers are really just masking the truth that they are all shaking in their boots for the forthcoming season. Apart from a smallish squad and Senderos, and Mr G's hissy fit, we are very close to perfection. A level of football that only Man U and Barcelona can even think about. As the famous film said, 'Build it and they (the trophies) shall come' Good things come to those who wait. 3 years really isn't a long time. Spurs fans should really know all about that!!!

  • Arsene spat the dummy...

It's a good job it wasn't his ball, or he'd have taken it home. Spending too much time around infants is clearly affecting him...

  • Congratulations from Manchester

Congratulations to Arsenal from all ManU fans across the world on their fantastic season so far. Only being 9 points behind United at this stage is a truly awesome achievement.

  • Self Destruct Tactic

I think that next year we should refrain from using the self destruct tactic in games. This season we tended to switch to this tactic immediately after taking the lead in a game. It just doesn't work! I am sure that those dodgy hand balls and lapses in concentration come straight off the training ground; who knows they may even work there, but it in a match situation it just not happening for us. • Mr Wenger Says...

"We don't buy great players. We make them"

  • Strength in depth

In short, we need a deeper, more experienced squad to compete for silverware. We have fantastic players coming through but require a leader who can switch the game in order to hold the lead. We have sinply leaked too many crucial goals to our opposition, so defensively we have been below par during recent months. We could not kill games this season when taking the lead - think back to Birmingham home and away and of course our champions league exit to Liverpool as well as the recent away game at Man U. I have been a season ticket holder with the club for over 10 years and overall am pleased with the progress this season but of course disappointed to say the least with our lack of maturity in all departments and ability to 'kill a game.' M Wenger is a fantastic manager but does need to stregthen the team this summer. We will expect nothing less than a trophy next season, even if its just the Carling Cup! Come on you reds!

  • Analysis: 4 faults but 1 great manager

4 reasons why Arsenal came up short, first 2 of which Wenger is to blame for: 1. Squad too small, leading to star players getting exhausted. 2. Lack of on-field leadership: team choked when pressure was on. Is Gallas captain material? 3. Bad luck with injuries, especially up front. Van Persie & Rosicky injured most of season, & horrible injury to Eduardo. 4. Bad luck with decisons: in the last 2 months almost every big desicion went against Arsenal. But who else but Wenger could achieve so much by spending so little? Against Liverpool, the combined Arsenal team cost less than Torres!

  • Unlucky? or just not good enough?

Apparently Arsenal were unlucky - Personally I'd just say that the other teams scored more goals than them! "Attractive football?".....I'd rather an attractive trophy in the trophy cabinet!" Come on you Spurs - Carling Cup winners 08.

  • There's so much potential

Every year it is the same, 'give our youngsters time to grow', 'there is massive potential from this team'. The problem is Wenger delights in selling players in their prime and buying young players four years from their prime. Will there ever be a time when the team's in its prime? A prime time?

  • Arsenull!!

I say well done Arsene for not being relegated!! However I am starting to feel sorry for the local cabinet maker in the Holloway Road who has relied on their business over the past few years!!

By Carlton Carugati, Thursday, April 17, 2008

  • Je ne sais pas

How would Arsene Wenger know what went wrong? He normally says 'i didnt see it' to everything in the post match interview!!
