BANGKOK - Amadeus has been selected to power the online insurance service on qantas.com, the website of Australiaââ¬â¢s national carrier Qantas.
The insurance service, provided by Australian insurance company QBE, enables customers to seamlessly and quickly pay for their chosen insurance policy while booking airline tickets.
David Brett, president of Amadeus Asia Pacific said, ââ¬ÅâThis is the first application of this particular technology for Amadeus in Asia Pacific. Customers visiting qantas.com can now purchase insurance as part of the flight booking process, which means it is quick and easy, with no additional input of information required.ââ¬~
Also, a first in the region for Amadeus Insurance is the XML direct connect technology used to connect QBE Insurance to Amadeus. This technology queries the insurance providerââ¬â¢s product database before providing information to the customer in real time, which ensures they receive accurate information on insurance policies.
The technology to power online insurance booking from Amadeus is available to all airlines globally that have an online sales channel. For existing Amadeus e-retail customers, there is no need for further developments, because the functionality is already available.
Qantas Frequent Flyer members using the new service are also entitled to a number of special offers, including the opportunity to earn one point per Australian dollar spent on most QBE Insurance policies and the opportunity to earn extra Frequent Flyer points when they purchase Annual Multi Trip insurance.
