Brits return to the US

British holidaymakers are returning to the US, according to new statistics that reveal an 11 per cent rise in visitors to the country from the UK during May, compared with the same period last year.

The Visit USA Association said 343,000 people arrived in the US from the UK in May, giving a year-to-date total of  1.79m, up 8.2 per cent on last year.

If the growth is maintained, 2008 will be the biggest ever year for UK-US arrivals and reconfirm the UK as the biggest overseas market for travel to the US.

Visit USA Association chairman Peter Moss said: ââ¬ÅâœClearly the favourable pound to dollar exchange rate has had a big impact and when this is then combined with the very wide choice of quality holidays to a multitude of great cities and beaches, then the USA becomes an unbeatable holiday destination ââ¬' now demonstrated by these record numbers.ââ¬~

Luckily the Dept of Homeland Security has acted in the nick of time to nip this in the bud!! The ESTA will discourage a good percentage of those pesky tourists...
