Travel agents are selling more last minute domestic holidays this summer and at higher prices, a leading operator claims.
Hoseasons has seen 45% growth in like-for-like sales of UK breaks through agents in the past seven days.
The average booking value is reported to be up 10% on the same time last year, resulting in improved commission payments to the trade.
The self-catering operatorââ¬â¢s business development director Pali Badwal said: ââ¬ÅâItââ¬â¢s a tough market for overseas breaks at the moment but agents have responded to the change in customer demand and are really pushing UK holidays.
ââ¬ÅâNobody is quite sure how long the uncertainty in the economy, the credit crunch and high exchange rates will last, but British holidays are at the forefront of the customersââ¬â¢ mind.ââ¬~
