Holiday Taxis in carbon neutral drive

Transfer specialist Holiday Taxis aims to become carbon neutral by the end of the year.

The independent company has introduced an environmental policy which means that clients will be able to offset the carbon emissions associated with their transfer.

The company will also voluntarily offset its own core emissions.

A selection of hybrid vehicles has also been introduced in some destinations.

Holiday Taxis said it will not profit from the scheme. All offset contributions will be used to purchase a portfolio of voluntary standard carbon credits within a range of certified projects that actively remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, according to the company.

The first contribution is within a wind power project in China.

Nathalie Greeno has been appointed as green officer to oversee the offset scheme.

She will also act towards reducing the companyÃ¢â¬â¢s core emissions through recycling and improving energy efficiency in the companyÃ¢â¬â¢s offices in Burgess Hill and Hailsham.

CEO Paul Stanyer said: Ã¢â¬ÅâœThis project has taken almost 12 months to come to fruition to allow us once again take the lead in the transfer sector.

Ã¢â¬ÅâœClimate change cannot be ignored and as a nation we are becoming increasingly conscientious about our carbon footprint.

Ã¢â¬ÅâœBy offering our customers the opportunity to offset their transfer related carbon emissions at a very small cost they are able to benefit from our service and at the same time contribute positively to the environmentÃ¢â¬~.

HE added: Ã¢â¬ÅâœIn trials over the past month we have seen a hugely encouraging 40% uptake of the scheme from our direct customers. It will be available to our B2B customers in the coming weeks.Ã¢â¬~
