Dubai counts down to new terminal

Dubai Airport will begin a phased transition of operations to new Terminal 3 from October 14.

The Emirates Airline-dedicated terminal is currently undergoing operational trials.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said: ââ¬ÅâœWe want to make absolutely sure that all the systems and processes at Terminal 3 are working smoothly and that customers experience nothing short of world-class facilities and service when they use the new terminal.

ââ¬ÅâœIt is precisely for this reason that we have decided to make Terminal 3 fully operational in phases.ââ¬~ââ¬~¨Ã¢â¬~¨

Dubai Airports conducted the first major operational trial, involving more than 2,000 volunteers, on August 9. Some 6,000 volunteers participated in similar trials at the end of last month and another trial will be held at the end of this month.

Terminal 3 is a multi-level structure with 220 check-in counters, 14 baggage belts, restaurants, first and business class lounges and 2,600 underground parking spaces.
