What percentage of the travel workforce is female? What percentage of management is female? Admittedly on the increase, but there is still a glass ceiling. We can take that further & look at race if you like. If middle-class, middle-aged white males (like me) start to feel threatened then, in my opinion, things are getting better. We'll know it's REALLY working when the Daily Mail gets on the case!

Although discrimination on the grounds of gender (as well as other things such as race and colour) is technically illegal, I have noticed quite often that, if it is discrimination in favour of a supposed minority group, then little is ever said. But just try getting away with the "Men's Awards in Travel", "The Association of Male Travel Executives" or even the "Federation of White police officers". I actually find it rather amusing that, in the midst of so much equality, we have such inequality.

You can't just have awards for wimmin, sorry, I mean women, in travel. You can have "Persons" in travel but not gender specific. Or is this just another male sponsored thing to patronise women...?
