Debt ridden Alitalia may be forced to ground all flights this week unless a financial rescue package is put in place.
Italian aviation authorities have reportedly warned that the airlineââ¬â¢s operating licence could be removed within days unless a cost cutting plan emerges.
The boss of the countryââ¬â¢s civil aviation authority ENAC Vito Riggio was reported in local media as saying: ââ¬ÅâIf the financial plan doesnââ¬â¢t arrive in three to four days the licence will be suspended.ââ¬~
His comments came after a bid by investor group CAI fell through on Friday due to opposition by six unions

Any company that is held financially hostage by its unions deserves to die. I only hope that as it is sold off piecemeal that the said unions lose their stranglehold in the process.
