Ryanair drops East Midlands-Shannon route

Flights between Shannon and East Midlands are to be dropped by Ryanair and frequency reduced from Luton to the west of Ireland airport.

The changes come as the airline adds flights to Newcastle and Frankfurt-Hahn from Shannon this winter.

The carrier has scheduled 26 additional frequencies a week to destinations including Bristol, Edinburgh and Paris.

A sixth aircraft is to be based in Shannon, generating more than 100 additional jobs at the airport this winter.

The changes will give the airline 35 routes from Shannon.

"To accommodate these new routes and increased frequencies, we will stop flying the Shannon-East Midlands route and reduce frequencies on the Shannon-Luton route from 31 October,ââ¬~ said the airlineââ¬â¢s CEO Michael Oââ¬â¢Leary.
