Caribbean islands sign with responsible travel site

St. Vincent & The Grenadines are backing their green credentials by joining forces with responsibletravel.com.

The responsible travel site has created a dedicated channel featuring an ââ¬Ëœinsiderââ¬â¢sââ¬â¢ guide to the country of 32 islands told by the local people.

A video and podcasts featuring islanders telling the stories of the islands plus tips on where to go and what to do also feature.

Users can search by theme (holidays, activities, nature & wildlife, luxury, culture, events, weddings, honeymoons, families and sailing & diving), or by island, such as St. Vincent, Bequia, Union Island, Mayreau, Canouan, Mustique, Young Island, Palm Island and Petit St.Vincent.

A selection of bed and breakfast accommodation, apartments, hotels and tours are offered and have been selected due to their stated responsible travel policy.

Each property included has to offer a distinctive travel experience that benefits the local community, while sustaining the islandsââ¬â¢ natural and cultural heritage, according to the tourist office.

Prices start at US$72 a night for a double room on St.Vincent.
