New Birmingham airport boss starts

Former Bristol and Luton airport boss Paul Kehoe has joined Birmingham airport as CEO.

He takes up the role following the sudden death of Richard Heard almost two years ago.

Joe Kelly has been in charge of the airport in the interim period.

Kehoe said: ââ¬ÅâœI have joined the Airport at a very exciting time, with the new international pier under construction, an extension to the multi storey car park under way, and the recent opening of two new hotels.

ââ¬ÅâœMy goal and passion is to drive the business forward with the support of my team to uphold our mission to be the best regional airport in Europe.ââ¬~

  • Smoking in doorways

At last! I thought I was the only one who moaned about the wall of smoke you have to negotiate when entering the terminal. You can even still smell it on your clothes when you sit on the plane! It's disgusting - move the smokers into their own smoke pit where they can breathe in each others stink. Glasgow is the same.

  • clear the entry doors

agreed - flying from BHX is meant to be the default option for Midlands clients but by the time long term parking bus has kept you waiting for 30 minutes and the smokers barrier has been braved ... move the smokers from the doors - makes the airport a third world bus stataion

  • No smoking BHX.

I quite agree David. These anti-social gaspers then leave behind their filthy debris, stuck between paving stones etc., for others to clear up. The airport should be a totally smoke-free zone.

  • Smoking at the door

I do hope the new CEO will take the problem of the smokers at the entrance door of the airport to heart. I personally find it uncomfortable to have to push my way through a veritable smokescreen at the doors to the buildings. I cannot understand why they do not provide an area away from the main doors. there is plenty of room and ban smoking within 15 yards ( or meters) of the doors. this would make the entrance a more pleasurable experience.
