Scottish self-catering consolidation

Scottish holiday lettings agency Cottages & Castles has acquired Arran HideAways, the only dedicated self-catering agent on the Isle of Arran.

The deal has led to Cottages & Castles, run by the partners of property consultancy CKD Galbraith, adding 140 properties from Arran HideAways.

It claims that this makes the company the largest self-catering holiday lets company in Scotland, with more than 500 properties in its portfolio.

Arran HideAways has already secured 1,083 bookings for the period October 2008ââ¬'October 2009 which equates to 1,114 weeks of accommodation occupancy.

This number is expected to increase as Cottages & Castles opens up each property to a wider market audience of potential holidaymakers.

Cottages & Castles manager Sue Bourne said: ââ¬ÅâœArran is very much a second home island and is a popular holiday destination with huge potential on a national and international level.

ââ¬ÅâœGiven the current economic downturn, coupled with more people holidaying at home, we believe Arran is set to become the place to holiday for 2009.ââ¬~
