More than a quarter of British holidaymakers have had sex on the beach, according to a new survey by Direct Holiday Bookings.
The statistic were unveiled as a British couple were jailed for three months in Dubai for having sex on a public beach.
The survey by DirectHolidayBookings.co.uk suggests that the Dubai incident is far from unusual.
Of the 1,000 people questioned by the online holiday homes booking site, 26% admitted to getting amorous by the sea whilst on holiday in the past.
That figure rose to 36% amongst under 30s, while 19% of over 40s have also had sex on the beach.
Just 5% also admitted to being left red-faced after being caught in the act.
But almost 90% said the Dubai case would make them think twice before doing so in future.
Andrew Gibson, director of DirectHolidayBookings.com, said: ââ¬ÅâThe Dubai case has attracted worldwide media attention, but this survey goes to show that the practice is far from unusual.
ââ¬ÅâPeople tend to be far more relaxed whilst on holiday and perhaps do things that they would never consider at home."

25% of British people claiming to have had sex on a beach is not the same as them actually doing it. Take a survey of 16 year old boys about their sex lives and you are likely to get an over exagerration of the truth.
