Barrass back at Thomas Cook

Steve Barrass has returned to Thomas Cook to take on its direct holidays division.

The former managing director of Airtours, Barrass left soon after Mytravel merged with Thomas Cook last year.

It is believed he turned down a number of roles within the newly merged company before leaving to become a director of XL Leisure Group, which failed earlier this year.

In his new role as Direct Holidays director, he will be responsible for TC's direct-sell brand and the development of its strategy.

Ian Derbyshire, CEO independent travel Thomas Cook UK & Ireland, said: "I'm absolutely delighted that Steve has rejoined us. Direct Holidays is an important part of our business and Steve's experience in this area will be invaluable as we take it forward.

ââ¬ÅâœOur priority is to develop and implement a broader business strategy that will drive growth and further strengthen Direct Holidaysââ¬â¢ dominant position as the UKââ¬â¢s leading direct tour operating brand."
