Dubai property developers have unveiled plans for the QE2, which is due to arrive in the emirate later this month.

The ocean liner will be refurbished into an ââ¬Åâœultra-luxury floating hotelââ¬~ on the eastern side of the trunk of Palm Jumeirah at the end of a specially designed land-bridge precinct.

She will form the centre piece of a ââ¬Åâœluxurious residential, entertainment, marina, and hotel developmentââ¬~, with a heritage museum displaying artifacts from QE2 and of local maritime history.

The complex will also contain a luxurious, West-end style theatre to stage full-scale West-end and Broadway productions

The QE2 was purchased last year by Dubai World, the parent company of Nakheel Hotels.

Manfred Ursprunger, CEO of QE2 Enterprises, Nakheel Hotels, said: ââ¬ÅâœThe investment Nakheel will be making in the QE2 will ensure that she continues to be a beacon of sophistication for generations to come and maintains her rich heritage and iconic stature.ââ¬~

The QE2 is set to arrive at Dubai port Mina Rashid on November 26, when she will be greeted at The World islands by a flotilla of local yachts, boats and leisure-craft led by a Royal Navy Frigate.

Wonder why they are using an image of Queen Mary 2 with the QE2's funnel on top - do they know something we don't know??
