Siem Reap Airways suspends flights

PHNOM PENH ââ¬' Cambodiaââ¬â¢s Siem Reap Airways is reported to have suspended all flights, both domestic and to neighbouring countries.

The move follows the airlineââ¬â¢s recent blacklisting by the European Union.

Bangkok Airways is operating services between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap the main domestic route in the country.

Travel Trade Report said the decision to suspend all Siem Reap Airways services is in response to the EU ban, which placed the airline, a subsidiary of Bangkok Airways, on its blacklist.

Although the airline does not fly to Europe, it is booked by European travel agents for clients flying within Indochina. Those agents have been concerned about using Siem Reap Airways while banned by the EU.

The airline is also reported to have suspended its twice weekly Siem Reap-Pakse service and a daily Siem Reap-Ho Chi Minh City service, that was due to start earlier this month.

There was no immediate confirmation of the new arrangements with Bangkok Airways on the Siem Reap Airways website today.
