Lifeline for Apollo redundancies

Staff made redundant from the closure of Apollo Travel Direct in Rotherham are being invited to apply for jobs with alpharooms.com.

Around 150 staff work for Apollo Travel, a member of Co-operative Travel Group, which will cease operating in Rotherham from April 3.

Alpharooms, a Sheffield-based discount travel website, said it is undertaking a recruitment drive and would welcome contact from experienced travel professionals who are about to enter the job market.

It is actively looking to recruit for its sales, accounts, product, commercial and customer service departments to meet its continued expansion plans for 2009.

Managing director Jason Fry said: ââ¬ÅâœApollo Travel was a great business and itââ¬â¢s such a shame to see a group of highly talented people being made redundant.

ââ¬ÅâœWeââ¬â¢re encouraging those passionate about their jobs and who want to remain in the travel industry to get in touch as we have positions available in all departments.

ââ¬ÅâœWe are confident that we can offer employees from Apollo Travel a secure future and are happy to interview those who can demonstrate that they will add value to our business.ââ¬~

Anyone interested in joining the team should send their CV and a covering letter to jobs@alpharooms.com.
