Monarch changes baggage rules

Monarch is introducing a complimentary hold baggage allowance of 10kgs for infants.

From today, customers booking to travel with infants will be allowed an extra a 10kg hold baggage allowance, on top of the standard allowances of 20kgs of hold baggage and 10kgs of hand baggage per person.

This can be taken in addition to pushchairs, prams and car seats, which will continue to be carried free of charge.

Liz Savage, managing director of Monarch's scheduled service division, said: "This will be welcome news for families travelling with young children who often struggle to carry all the essential holiday items for themselves and their infant within their standard baggage allowance.

"As an airline flying to popular holiday destinations in Spain, Portugal and Cyprus we carry many young families on their annual holidays and feel it is important to make their travel experience as seamless as possible.ââ¬~
