TC despondent about Government policy on passenger protection

The UK Government will not back down on its plans for passenger protection, according to Manny Fontenla-Novoa.

The Thomas Cook chief executive said the airline industry is too powerful in its influence over ministers.

ââ¬ÅâœThe airlines argue that they cannot pay the bond as they have to compete on an international level. I think thatââ¬â¢s nonsense but the Government will not change its mind,ââ¬~ he said.

ââ¬ÅâœThe Government has made its position clear. They write us very nice letters telling us they sympathise, but they are not going to budge.ââ¬~
