Ex-lastminute.com boss takes up non-exec role

Travel services provider CallUma has recruited ex-lastminute.com managing director John Bevan as a non-executive director.

CallUma provides multilingual services to support travellers overseas through a "Just Text HELP" tool and through travel products such as trackable luggage tags.

Bevan, who left lastminute.com in October after eight years with the group, has joined the board to help founder and chief executive Tony Partridge forge new partnerships in the travel industry.

Also on CallUma’s board is Stephen Moss, founder of BCP Parking, which he set up and ran for 18 years before selling in 2003 although he remained at the helm of the business until 2007.

Bevan said: "I’ve been extremely impressed by the team at CallUma and what they have achieved in such a short period of time. Their technology is second to none and it offers a truly seamless support service to both individual travellers as well as industry partners."

Partridge added: "We’re delighted to have John on the team. With his experience, contacts and knowledge he’ll be a terrific asset to us as we look to grow the business within the UK as well as overseas during 2009."
