More high street shops planned for Kuoni

Kuoni is looking to open more shops in the UK following the success of two flagship stores opened last year.

The upmarket operator opened a store in High Street Kensington, London, in April and in King Street, Manchester, in September.

UK managing director Nick Hughes said the operator wanted to have around 10 stores in total in the UK and was planning to open a handful in the next two years.

"We’re keeping any eye on the market," he said. "There is nothing in the pipeline at the moment but we are actively looking."

He claimed that its decision to open shops was helping high street agents, instead of competing against them.

"Agents in the areas we have shops have said it has actually helped endorse the value of face to face contact," he said.

The shops have been designed in the same style as Kuoni’s VIP lounge at the Emirates Stadium.
