Death of Old Abtarian Bryan Moreton

Bryan Moreton, one of the founding members of the Old Abtarians, has died aged 78.

He was a leading member of the Midlands Region of ABTA and for ten years.

He served as a committee member and chairman of the shipping committee in the 1980s where he worked tirelessly to improve the relationship with cruise lines and travel agents.

Moreton was highly supportive in setting up the PSARA (predecessor of ACE) which through its training of travel agents was highly influential in expanding the British cruise market.

He was also vice-chairman of Travel Agents Council from 1986-88 where he supported Colin Brain when he was chairman.

Brain said: "A harder working and more supportive vie chairman could not exist.

"He made my life as chairman a breeze - it was a pleasure to work alongside him - we will all miss him and our feelings go out to his lovely wife Avril and his daughter Julia."

Bob Duffett, founder of PSARA, said: "Bryan will be sadly missed by all of us in the cruise industry that worked with him over many many years."

In recent years Moreton utilised his contacts in the shipping world to produce deals for members of the Old Abtarians.
