FORT LAUDERDALE - The new cruise ship, Celebrity Solstice, joined the ranks of major sporting arenas around the world when it removed and replaced around 6,400 square feet of real lawn on its deck to ensure perfect playing conditions for passengers.
Celebrity Solstice has been sailing in the Caribbean since it came into service last November and now, in preparation for its European season, swapped its large lawn area with turf more suited to the new Mediterranean climate.
While many ships feature synthetic turf, Celebrity Solstice is the first in the world to have the real thing ââ¬' finely manicured green grass for its guests.
The half-acre ââ¬ÅâLawn Clubââ¬~ on Celebrity Solstice provides a perfect spot for playing bowls or bocce, or simply taking a barefoot walk across the grass.
Celebrity Solstice sets sail from Fort Lauderdale for Europe on April 19 for a 15-night cruise to the Azores, Lisbon, Seville, Malaga, Barcelona, Marseilles, Florence, and Rome.
