PORT VILA - Vanuatu Tourism Office has confirmed that the 8th annual Tok Tok meeting will be held August 27-28, 2009, at the Sebel Hotel located on Port Vila harbour.
Tok Tok is the premier trade event in Port Vila bringing together agents, wholesalers and tourism operators to showcase Vanuatuââ¬â¢s tourism industry which represents the major revenue earner for the country of 210,000 people.
In 2008 there was a record 64 wholesalers and agents and 71 companies showcasing tourism products at Tok Tok.
The Vanuatu Tourism Office is expecting another record year in 2009 with recent figures showing a 28.9 per cent increase in arrivals.
ââ¬ÅâThe tourism industry in Vanuatu is growing and developing with new products and properties popping up every year,ââ¬~ said Annie Niatu general manager of the Vanuatu Tourism Office.
She added, ââ¬ÅâThere is considerable potential to grow the Australian market in the current economic climate.
"With a wide variety of mid-range accommodation options and short flying times - 2.5 hours from Brisbane, 3.5 hours from Sydney and four hours from Melbourne, Vanuatu is positioned well to cater for the increasing number of travellers looking for short haul and affordable overseas holidays."
