A fish market trader, a local DJ, a yoga teacher, brewer and a seaside chippy owner will be the face of VisitBritainââ¬â¢s new advertising campaign.
The new tourism initiative, designed to tie in with British Tourism Week, focuses on characters rather than destinations and attractions to present a flavour of Britain to the rest of the world.
VisitBritain hopes the personalities will become ambassadors for the best of British.
ââ¬ÅâWe know Britain has an astonishing range of attractions but we also believe that the people of Britain have incredible qualities,ââ¬~ said Mike Bedingfield, Britain marketing director of VisitBritain.
ââ¬ÅâWe want to give the world a glimpse of the personalities they can meet when they holiday or visit Britain.
ââ¬ÅâBritain is about so much more than the stereo-typed bowler-hat and Beefeater and we want to show our diverse culture and the incredible people who make visiting Britain such a joy
ââ¬ÅâWe are very proud of the being British and we believe the world will be fascinated by these five diverse characters.ââ¬~
Five mini documentaries will feature on VisitBritainââ¬â¢s new video channel www.visitbritain.com/videos along with a range of other British tourism related footage.
