Emirates raises Birmingham capacity

 

 
 
Business class capacity from Birmingham is being hiked by 39% this summer by Emirates.
 
A second Boeing 777-300ER will be introduced on the airline's twice-daily service to Dubai from June 1.
 
This will increase the total number of business class seats a day from 69 to 96 and the number in economy from 651 to 710.
 
Overall, it represents a total capacity increase across all classes of 11%.
 
The new aircraft type is being introduced on the evening departure from Birmingham, which is currently operated by smaller Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
 
A 777 already operates a daily lunchtime flight.
 
The airline’s UK regions manager Laurie Berryman said: "Despite the challenging economic conditions, travellers in the Midlands remain keenly aware of the benefits of Emirates’ worldwide network.
 
"Over the last few months demand has continued to grow on the Birmingham route, necessitating an increase in capacity to meet the surge in passenger numbers."
