Qantas, Etihad extend their partnership

SYDNEY ââ¬' Qantas and Abu Dhabi-based Etihad have beefed up their partnership.

Etihad will use QF stable mate Jetstar to take its passengers around Australia to destinations not serviced by Qantas domestic flights.

This is expected to be especially useful for Etihad passengers flying to several holiday destinations in Queensland and Tasmania.

From tomorrow, Etihad passengers will be able to fly to Australia and not have to book tickets or carry their baggage between air terminals before boarding Jetstar flights.

Jetstar passengers will enjoy similar privileges with Etihad and will be able to claim and redeem Qantas frequent flyer points, depending on the type of ticket they choose.

Qantas and Etihad recently announced a new agreement that will see the two carriers share routes in the Middle East and Australia, as well as gain Qantas a new hub in the Middle East.

The move is seen as an attempt to counter the influence of Emirates in moving passengers out of Australia to its Dubai hub.
