Birmingham airport business development director Peter Vella is to leave the company after 12 years.
He has decided to leave the airport to pursue new business opportunities, a statement said.
Vella, who took up the role in 1997, said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed working for the airport company over the past 12 years.
"It is an excellent company with a first class reputation both locally and across the industry.
"I will miss working with a very talented team of colleagues.
"However, the time has come to move on and pursue new opportunities and challenges."
Airport CEO Paul Kehoe said: "I have only worked with Peter for five months but during that time he has given me great support as I have settled in to the business. I respect his decision to move on after a successful 12 year stint as business development director."
