SYDNEY - With just seven days to go before the winner of Tourism Queenslandââ¬â¢s Best Job in the World campaign is announced, Voyages believes it has the Second Best Job in the World on Lizard Island.
Voyages Lizard Island is recruiting for a resort general manager, a role that has been held by just a few lucky people over the years.
Tourism Queensland has attracted thousands of applications for its offer of a six-month caretakerââ¬â¢s stint on Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef.
Said a spokeswoman for Voyages, ââ¬ÅâFar from being a short-term contract for just six months, this is a real job, with real career progression ââ¬' and yes, a lovely two-bedroom house overlooking the Great Barrier Reef.ââ¬~
Guy Heywood, Voyages group general manager Voyages Signature Properties said, ââ¬ÅâAs far as offices go, this isnââ¬â¢t bad. And if the next weekââ¬â¢s winner of Tourism Queenslandââ¬â¢s campaign claims to have the Best Job, then this must surely come a close second.ââ¬~
Keen snorkellers and divers should apply ââ¬' Lizard Island has some of the best diving in the world, with a variety of outstanding dive sites including the world-famous Cod Hole.

Who at Voyages could be dumb enough to come out with this bit of PR that suggests Lizard Island comes second to Hamilton Island. They are looking for a manager for an upscale resort, not a backpacking blogger. Riding on the coat-tails of a successful viral campaign is not the way to go.
