Pandemics is focus of WTTC Summit this week

Preparing for pandemics will be the subject of the opening session of The World Travel & Tourism Councilââ¬â¢s 9th Global Travel & Tourism Summit.

The panel will feature medical experts, including a World Health Organisation spokesman, and (to be confirmed) a representative of the Mexican Tourism Board.

Other panellists are Jean-Claude Baumgarten, WTTC president & CEO, and Geoffrey Lipman, assistant secretary general of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The Summit takes place from Thursday to Saturday (May 14-16) in FlorianÃ~³polis, the state capital of Santa Catarina in Southern Brazil.

It is the first global meeting of leaders from government and the private sector to be held since the outbreak of swine flu.
