Thomson and First Choice have today launched a new pre-paid
Travel Money Card, backed by MasterCard.
The card can be electronically loaded with both euro and US Dollars and used to purchase goods at over 28 million locations worldwide.
The Travel Money Cards will be promoted in 860 First Choice, Holiday Hypermarket and Thomson Travel branches.
ââ¬ÅâWe think this is something our customers will find assists them in planning and budgeting for their holidays,ââ¬~ said Jeremy Osborne, TUI UK director of financial services.
ââ¬ÅâAs the card is pre-loaded with a fixed amount of currency at a given rate, it will appeal to the budget-conscious as it makes it much easier to manage finances whilst away.
ââ¬ÅâIn addition, itââ¬â¢s impossible to over-spend on the card, and as itââ¬â¢s not linked to a bank or credit card account, the exposure to fraud and loss is reduced.
ââ¬ÅâCustomers will benefit from significant savings when compared to most credit or debit cards whilst also eliminating any additional foreign exchange fees.ââ¬~
It is valid for three years, so any unused funds can just be kept on the card for future use.

RE Scott Read's comment; TUI's card is truly their own product, not a re-badged version of Travelex's Cash Passport as is the case with Thomas Cook (+ the Co-Ops) .
