Mottershead takes legal action against Travelzest

Travelzest founder and CEO Chris Mottershead is taking legal action against the company following his suspension almost a month ago.

Libel proceedings have been served on the operator following an announcement to the Stock Exchange on April 24 alleging that there had been an alleged misappropriation of company funds and he had been suspended.

Schillings solicitors has lodged the action, describing the allegations, which were reported in the media, as "extremely serious and defamatory".

A statement from the solicitors said: "Travelzest’s investigation into the allegations, with which Mr Mottershead has co-operated fully, has been running for nearly four weeks without any end being in sight.

"Mr Mottershead takes the matter of his unblemished and hard won reputation very seriously and feels that he has had no other option but to issue proceedings in order to obtain vindication in respect of this matter. Mr Mottershead strongly denies any wrongdoing."

It added that there will be no further comment at this time.
