Aegean Airlines has been accepted as a member of Star Alliance.
The Greek airline is expected to be fully integrated into the alliance within 12 months.
Star Alliance CEO Jaan Albrecht said: ââ¬ÅâAegean Airlines is a welcome addition to the Star Alliance network. Its home market Greece is of strategic importance due to its geographic position in the Eastern Mediterranean, acting as the main south-eastern access point into the European Union.ââ¬~
Publicly listed Aegean Airlines operates a fleet of 31 aircraft covering a total of 47 domestic and international routes on 200 daily flights.
The addition will bring the Star Alliance membership to 26 airlines.
