New British-themed Bmi lounge has pub and Aga

Bmi has opened its new lounge at Heathrow Terminal One featuring a pub, an Aga and original art work, all with a British theme.

Bmi Number One Heathrow is open to the airline’s business class, diamond club (gold and silver) and Star Alliance gold customers travelling to Bmi international destinations.
The lounge is above Gate 5 in Terminal 1. It has no reception, instead passengers are welcomed in by floating staff, and great views of the runway. A study offers desk seating and a boardroom style table with free wifi.
The café is focused on a custom-made black Aga where hot food is available around the clock. Evening flight passengers can now get a hot meal before take off and get ready to sleep as soon as they take off.
The lounge also has The Local, a pub environment where customers sit in a leather-buttoned horseshoe shaped bar and have a pint of Fuller London Pride or English rose.
Featured artwork is by award-winning graduate of the Royal Academy of Art Phil Shaw.

  • Come on, Dinah!

You submitted the story so please enlighten us - what is "English Rose"? Even the most meagre press release (and I assume it was froma release that you compile the story) will have the name of a contact from whom more information is available.

  • Concentrate on quality

Having travelled with Thomas Cook, I can believe their future could be in jeopardy. While they focus on marketing, the delivery leaves too much to be desired. In this day and age it's too easy to find good quality at the prices Thomas Cook offer. Perhaps if Thomas Cook concentrated on quality a bit more then returns might be higher. Fighting for the lowest price is a no win end game.

  • English Rose...new one on me?

... I trust these ales are cask (London Pride used to be available on keg in the 70's when Fuller's almost gave up cask production).

  • It's good to learn...

that someone is at last following in the laudable steps of J D Wetherspoon and proving airport catering venues that provide wonderful English cask beer at sensible prices, as opposed to the usual airport caterers' policy of providing nothing more than overpriced and foul-tasting chemical fizz. So well done BMI. Now tell me: I can translate "Fuller London Pride" (it should be Fuller's London Pride) but what is "English rose"? Although I do not claim to know the names of all of Britain's 3000 plus ales, I reckon I ought to know about this one. Who brews it and what kind of beer is it?
