Bangkok skytrain opens end of year

BANGKOK ââ¬' Bangkokââ¬â¢s new link from Suvarnabhumi airport to the city will open on December 5.

Trains on the 28km line are currently taking part in trial runs.

The airport-city link will take 15 minutes. From there passengers will be able to connect with Bangkokââ¬â¢s MRT or take a taxi to their hotels.

And In a move which will make long transfers less tedious for passengers at Suvarnabhumi, those facing a 6-12 hour stopover can now take a package tour.

Options include canal tours of Bangkok, museum visits or, for those with more time, trips to Pattaya.

Chairman of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Weerasak Kowsurat, said: ââ¬ÅâœThe money passengers spend during this whirlwind transfer will go some way towards helping some of our travel and tourism enterprises, especially small and medium size companies, and keeping Thai people in jobs."

Tours can be booked at the Suvarnabhumi transfer hall.
