Italian design hotel opens in Edinburgh

A new design hotel concept developed in collaboration with Italian luxury fashion dynasty Missoni has opened in Edinburgh.

The Rezidor Hotel Group is behind the first Hotel Missoni, located on a prime location on the corner of George IV Bridge and the Royal Mile in the Scottish city.

Hotel Missoni Edinburgh has 136 rooms and suites, some of which with views over city landmarks and the Royal Mile.

Room prices start at £210 per night excluding VAT.

An all inclusive room rate includes breakfast, high-speed wireless internet, free local calls, films on demand, laundry and the entire contents of the minibar.

The hotel concept has been spearheaded by creative director Rosita Missoni and Rezidor executive vice president Brands, Gordon McKinnon.

It aims to provide "a distinctive blend of fashion, function, form and service that adds up to a new genre of genuinely luxurious hotels," according to the company.

Rezidor president and CEO Kurt Ritter said: "I’ve seen so many of these hotels with grey, black and brown and minimalist design - this is distinctive and colourful. As soon as you walk through the doors you know it is Missoni."
