Celebrity Equinox prepares to make UK debut

Celebrity Cruises is preparing for the UK launch of new ship Celebrity Equinox, with the vessel emerging from its Germany shipyard.

The 1,425-passenger ship is the second in Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice Class fleet.

The vessel will run a series of "Ancient Empires" and other European itineraries from Southampton and Rome this summer, followed by 10- and 11-night Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale starting in November.

The ship will host the annual Passenger Shipping Association dinner on July 26 as part of its launch celebrations in Southampton.

Following its official "docking out" from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Celebrity Equinox will sail down the River Ems on June 19or 20 , depending on the winds and tides.

Following various provisioning activities, sea trials and inspections, will host a series of special events for press, travel agents and consumers in Southampton from July 23 until entering service on July 31.
