Japan eases swine flu fears

TOKYO - The Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) Tokyo head office has cleared concerns over swine flu.

It says daily life in Japan has returned to normal, even in the most affected regions of Osaka, Hyogo and Kyoto, following the recovery of more than 80 per cent of Japan’s influenza A (H1N1) patients.

All of the schools that were previously closed across Japan have already reopened.

As at 11:00am on June 9, 379 of the 449 influenza A (H1N1) patients had recovered, one was undergoing tests and 69 were receiving treatment.

There have been no reported cases of influenza A (H1N1) infection among overseas visitors who have recently travelled in Japan.

Additionally, special quarantine examinations are no longer held at major international airports in Japan, including Narita International Airport (Tokyo) and Kansai International Airport (Osaka).
Travellers are requested to complete a questionnaire relating to their health upon arrival.
