Tourism marketing network one of new UNWTO affiliates

Global Tourism Interface, a network of 14 companies worldwide specialising in tourism marketing, has become an affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).

GTI is one of 25 new affiliate members to be approved for admission as part of one of the largest intakes in the last decade.

UNWTO is unique in the United Nations system in that it welcomes members from the private sector, educational institutions, destinations and NGOs, encouraging them to engage in public - private partnerships to contribute to the positive development of tourism.

GTI vice-president Amanda Hills said the membership will enable the company to access worldwide cutting edge research.

"We look forward to participating in upcoming partnership projects and leadership summits over the course of 2009," she said.

UNWTO chairman of affiliate members Eulogio Bordas welcomed the new members, saying: "Their entry will, without doubt, give a new boost to the task of strengthening the role of the private sector within the organization and the public-private sector dialogue within UNWTO".
