British Airways has entered talks with trade unions over job cuts.
The airline has set the end of June as a deadline for an agreement to be reached with Unite, GMB and the Balpa pilots union.
It is looking to cut around 2,000 jobs among its crew and has not ruled out compulsory redundancies.
A spokesman said the airline was exploring all options, including unpaid leave and voluntary severance.
ââ¬ÅâCompulsory redundancies havenââ¬â¢t been ruled out, but weââ¬â¢re not at that stage at the moment,ââ¬~ he said.
He said there were no immediate plans for route cuts. ââ¬ÅâNothing has been decided on that,ââ¬~ he said.
British Airways is hoping to avoid industrial action over the job cuts.
Two years ago it lost Ãpound;80 million when staff threatened a strike. Although the action was called off, passengers switched to other airlines and cancelled flights.
