AUCKLAND ââ¬' New Zealand claims it is not short-changing China with its investment in tourism marketing in the country.
The NZ government has pledged millions of dollars to support New Zealandââ¬â¢s activities at next yearââ¬â¢s World Expo in Shanghai.
Prime Minister and tourism minister John Key said New Zeeland was ââ¬Åâvery committedââ¬~ to China.
In TravelMole yesterday Ed Sims, Air NZ group general manager, international airline, said the New Zealand industry had to get serious about its investments in China. "We think the industry should be more ambitious," he said
ââ¬ÅâIf you donââ¬â¢t invest seriously in China, the market can become unprofitable very quickly.ââ¬~
Tourism NZ chief executive George Hickton sad the NTO would continue to keep China as a priority growth market.
ââ¬ÅâWe need to be understood in China. Previously we havenââ¬â¢t been, and we will do some work on that.ââ¬~
