EasyCruise is sold

Greek ferry company, Hellenic Seaways, has acquired easyCruise from easyGroup.

It has bought the easyCruise brand and the line's 574-passenger ship, the easyCruise Life, which has been operating in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The move comes after easyCruise founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou invested, via easyGroup, in Sea Star Capital, one of the main share holders of Hellenic Seaways.

"Stelios has always used different shareholding structures to finance the development of the easy brand so for our partners and customers it is business as usual at easyCruise," said a spokesman for the cruise line.

Hellenic Seaways currently operates a fleet of 32 fast ferries in Greece.

It is believed it has plans to move into the cruise market.

Hellenic is owned by ANEK Lines, a major Greek ferry company.
