Cricket reaches a new high

With the first day of the deciding fifth Ashes cricket Test between England and Australia starting at The Oval in London today, former international cricketers have been demonstrating how to play in the snow.

Twelve former cricket stars from England and India clashed on Switzerland’s snow-capped Jungfraujoch mountain in a Jungfrau Railways-organised friendly, sponsored by Swiss International Air Lines.

The Jungfraujoch cricket match was held at 3,454 metres above sea level.

The 45-minute match saw legendary players such as Chris Broad, Kapil Dev and Allvin Kallicharan batting and bowling on a 70m x 100m snow-bordered pitch.

Former cricketers competing in the team were:
Geoff Howarth (New Zealand)
Chris Broad (England)
Alvin Kallicharran (West Indies)
Neil Radford (England)
John Emburey (England)
Collis King (West Indies)
