Bmi in Greek airline codeshare

Bmi has signed a code-share on the London-Athens route with Aegean Airlines.

The arrangement kicks off on October 25 when Aegean moves flights to Heathrow.

The code share will allow Aegean to offer six new connections via transfer in London: Manchester, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin.

The partnership will allow Bmi to offer four new onward connections via Athens: Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Chania and Rhodes.

All flights will carry both companies’ airline codes ('A3' and 'BD').

Bmi mainline managing director Dominic Paul said: "Bmi are delighted to team up with Aegean Airlines whose high quality product and service ethic closely matches our own customer proposition, with an expansion that aligns very well to the further growth of our Star Alliance partnerships."

The Greek carrier’s CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis said: "We’re very happy with this important new partnership, which will allows us to extend our network, reaching six destinations in United Kingdom and Ireland and benefit from the experience and the professional know how of Bmi."
