VisitBritainââ¬â¢s key trade appointment

SYDNEY - VisitBritain, the UKââ¬â¢s national tourism agency, has recruited Kristy Johnston to the role of commercial and travel trade executive, Australia & New Zealand, effective October 28.

Johnston has held a number of posts in the industry in the last seven years. Most recently employed at Expertise Events, Johnston also has wide-ranging experience, due to previous roles with Explore Holidays, Flight Centre and Travel Corporation.

Key responsibilities of the position are to harness and develop relationships with the travel trade by providing a constant flow of information, as well as identifying training needs, including educationals to Britain.

Johnston will also promote the range of annual VisitBritain events dedicated to the trade, such as Best of Britain & Ireland and Destination Britain & Ireland.

Judy Watkins, country manager for Australia & New Zealand said, ââ¬ÅâœIts an incredibly exciting time to be promoting Britain, particularly with key sporting milestones ahead, including the Rugby World Cup in 2015, the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and of course the Olympics in 2012.ââ¬~
